Firefighting efforts continue in the East Kazakhstan region, where a natural fire has engulfed dry grass, trees, and forest litter, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, firefighting operations are ongoing in the Ulan district on the territory of the state utility "Asu-Bulak Forestry." The fire has affected dry grass, trees, and forest litter.
The ministry noted that firefighting is complicated by shifting winds, steep slopes, high air temperatures, and the lack of access roads. To manage forces and resources effectively, a command post has been set up at the scene, headed by the regional emergency department chief. The command post coordinates the actions of all involved services, ensures interaction between ground and aviation groups, and makes decisions on further fire suppression.
Around 220 personnel and 43 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Kazavialesookhrana of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the National Security Committee's regional department, and local executive bodies have been mobilized, along with five Kazaviaspas helicopters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and aircraft from the East Kazakhstan regional akimat and the National Security Committee.
In hard-to-reach areas, helicopters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the regional akimat, and the National Security Committee are deployed with water-dropping devices. So far, 100 water drops have been made, releasing 288 tons of water, the ministry reported.
