France's health ministry has released its summer report: extreme heat has led to the deaths of more than 7,000 people. This is reported by infohub.kz.
As French Health Minister Stéphanie Rist stated, by the end of July the country had recorded an excess mortality of 7,000 people linked to several heatwaves. Speaking on television, she noted that the country's health system is coping with the strain, but the victims of high temperatures are mainly solitary individuals living in large cities.
The minister also stressed that despite the serious consequences, mortality rates in France are lower than in Germany. Earlier, media reported that Europe is expected to see at least 35,000 deaths from extreme heat this summer.
