Over the first nine months of 2026, Kazakhstan's medical organizations received 1.933 trillion tenge through the Social Health Insurance Fund. Finance Minister Madi Takiyev announced this, according to the government's press service, reports infohub.kz.
According to the finance minister, the funds were allocated from the national budget to the Social Health Insurance Fund and from there distributed to hospitals and clinics across the country.
After the fund was placed under the Finance Ministry's oversight in February 2026, the Qalqan information system was developed. It integrated the payment processes of the Social Health Insurance Fund and the treasury. According to Takiyev, all payments now go through this system.
"For patients, nothing should change overall. What matters to them is that waiting times are reduced, that people can receive their service. And that they don't have to pay out of pocket for it," the minister said.
The government noted that these measures are being implemented as part of President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev's directives outlined in his State of the Nation Address on modernizing healthcare. Work is also continuing to restore the financial stability of medical organizations.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that, according to the Finance Ministry, nine months of enhanced oversight in the mandatory social health insurance system prevented financial losses of 234 billion tenge. As part of criminal cases, more than 79 billion tenge illegally paid to healthcare providers is also being recovered.
