FX has unveiled the main cast for its TV series based on the Far Cry video game franchise, and filming is already underway, infohub.kz reports.
Noah Hawley, creator of Fargo and Alien: Earth, serves as showrunner and director. Rob McElhenney, known for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Mythic Quest, remains one of the lead actors and an executive producer.
The main cast includes Brendan Gleeson, known for his role as Alastor Moody in Harry Potter; Jennifer Jason Leigh from The Hateful Eight; Hamish Linklater from Midnight Mass; Sam Spruell from Legend; and Jamie Demetriou from Stath Lets Flats and Barbie.
As previously reported, Steve Buscemi will also appear in the series. The actor is known for Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, Fargo, Reservoir Dogs, and The Big Lebowski. His specific role has not yet been disclosed.
Interestingly, the series will not be a direct adaptation of any particular game in the Far Cry series. Each season will tell a standalone story with new characters and locations. However, the creators will retain the franchise's core idea of people finding themselves in extreme circumstances, where the line between civilization and chaos gradually blurs.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote that the Far Cry series was announced in November 2025. At the time, the creators confirmed the anthology format, and Noah Hawley compared it to Fargo.
