The new body-on-frame Geely Galaxy Battleship 700 SUV can not only accelerate at a blistering pace but also travel on water. In testing, the hybrid, whose powertrain produces 1,100 horsepower, reached 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds before driving into a body of water. Chinese auto blogger Sergey Gilevich reviewed the model, according to infohub.kz.

The Galaxy 700 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 220 horsepower and three electric motors. The combined output of the powertrain reaches 1,100 horsepower, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds.

The SUV features a dual-chamber air suspension with adjustable ground clearance. The wheelbase is 2,900 mm, the approach angle is 30 degrees and the departure angle is 31 degrees. Body torsional rigidity is claimed at 40,000 Nm/deg.

According to Gilevich, there are few premium materials in the cabin. The upper section is trimmed in a soft material, while hard plastic is used lower down. Instead of genuine leather, there is faux leather. Available equipment includes a heated steering wheel, massage, ventilation and heating for the front seats, plus ventilation and heating for the second row.

The most unusual part of the test began when the Galaxy Battleship 700 was sent into the water. Two propellers are mounted under the rear bumper, one on the left and one on the right, driving the vehicle forward.

According to the reviewer, the SUV can stay on the water for up to 40 minutes. For comparison, he mentioned the BYD Yangwang U8, which was claimed to last 10 minutes less.

At the test site, buoyancy was not the only thing checked. The Galaxy 700 climbed a 45-degree incline and also demonstrated its driver-assistance systems on specially prepared sections.

There is no official price for the Geely Galaxy Battleship 700 yet. Gilevich suggested that in China the vehicle could cost between $30,000 and $40,000, or roughly 13.5–18 million tenge.

At the same time, it is still too early to make a final assessment of its driving performance. The reviewer notes that this was an introductory test, and full production vehicles for testing should appear by the end of September.
