China has released the technical specifications for Geely's new Galaxy M8 crossover. The model is built on the Galaxy M9 platform but swaps the six-seat cabin for a five-seat layout. It matches the larger model in every dimension, yet its battery is actually bigger, according to infohub.kz.
The crossover measures 5205 mm long, 1999 mm wide and 1800 mm tall, with a 3030 mm wheelbase. A lidar unit is visible on the roof. The model is offered with 20- and 21-inch wheels, and gold-colored badges can be ordered separately. Curb weight comes in at 2470 kg for the front-wheel-drive version and 2620 kg for the all-wheel-drive variant.
The Galaxy M8 gets a plug-in hybrid setup built around a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 163 hp. Output figures for the electric motors have not yet been disclosed. The CATL battery has a capacity of 53.42 kWh.
Electric-only range is rated at 231–251 km depending on the version. By comparison, the Galaxy M9 comes with 18.4 and 41.5 kWh batteries, and its electric-only range does not exceed 210 km on the CLTC cycle.
The Galaxy M8 has already appeared in the certification database of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The crossover is expected to make its local market debut in the coming months. Pricing has not yet been announced.
