The Shu District Court of Zhambyl Region considered a civil case brought by LLP "K." against citizen T. seeking compensation for material damage caused by a passenger train striking a horse.

According to the court proceedings, the incident occurred in November 2025 on the Otar–Shu railway section at night. A passenger train struck a horse that suddenly ran onto the tracks. The driver applied emergency braking and sounded a loud audible warning, but was unable to avoid the collision.

As a result, the electric locomotive sustained mechanical damage and was sent for repairs. The cost of restoration work amounted to 531,000 tenge.

Law enforcement identified the animal's owner. It turned out that he had previously been held administratively liable for violating grazing rules near railway tracks.

After examining the case materials and evidence, the court concluded there was a direct causal link between the defendant's violation of grazing rules and the damage to the locomotive. The plaintiff's claims were found justified.

By its decision, the Shu District Court ordered the defendant to pay 531,000 tenge in material damages to LLP "K." as well as court costs.

The court noted that the decision has not yet entered into force and can be appealed in accordance with the law.
