Indian woman Jyoti Srivastava quit the army, where she designed rockets, to produce healthy and natural millet-based products for children. Her story as founder of the baby food brand "Little Cherry Mom" has drawn attention from Indian media, reports infohub.kz.
She previously worked as an engineer developing rockets for the Indian army, but after the birth of her first child she decided to radically change her field. Struggling to find the right first solid foods for her son, Srivastava discovered that most popular products labeled "natural" contain refined sugar, finely milled flour, and artificial additives.
In 2022, in the city of Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), she founded her own business producing healthy baby food based on millet. The range includes ready-to-cook dosa mixes, flour, sugar-free and palm honey-free laddus, as well as traditional crispy khakhra flatbreads. To gain a deeper understanding of children's diets, the entrepreneur completed UNICEF certification in early childhood nutrition and studied Ayurvedic texts.
Despite difficulties finding funding and resuming her career after maternity leave, Srivastava's startup grew successfully. Today, the brand's customer base exceeds 70,000 people across India, and the company's annual revenue has surpassed 1 crore (10 million) Indian rupees. The entrepreneur also became a participant in the fifth season of the business show "Shark Tank India".
