Consumer spending on soft drinks and snacks can become a source of steady income on the stock market: Freedom analysts assessed the prospects of investing in securities of the world's largest beverage and confectionery producers, reports infohub.kz.

The global snack market is measured in hundreds of billions of dollars. In 2025, its volume reached $747.6 billion, and in 2026 it could grow to $778.1 billion. The chocolate market is no less vast: in 2025, the world produced about 35.8 million tonnes of chocolate and cocoa products. Kazakhstan is an important part of this industry, attracting the attention of international corporations and developing local production.

"According to the Bureau of National Statistics, in January and August 2026 Kazakhstan produced about 2.75 billion litres of mineral and carbonated water, as well as other soft drinks, 4.7% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, output of mineral and carbonated water without sweeteners and flavourings increased by 17.9%, to 578 million litres, while production of other soft drinks rose by 1.7%, to 2.17 billion litres," notes Aliyar Akymgaliyev, an analyst in Freedom's investment division.

International companies are actively investing in the region. PepsiCo is building a snack factory in the Almaty Region. The project's investment was initially estimated at $160 million, but the company later increased it to $368 million.

Kazakh confectionery producers, whose shares trade on the KASE exchange, are also performing well on the local market. At the end of 2025, Bayan Sulu's revenue amounted to 51.8 billion tenge, while net profit reached 4.44 billion tenge.

Shares of the Rakhat factory rose from 9,200 tenge to 20,117 tenge between 10 January 2021 and 12 October 2026. The price increase over that period was 118.7%. According to the experts' calculations, regularly investing 200,000 tenge at the beginning of each year would have brought an investor 1.72 million tenge at a total cost of 1.2 million tenge over six years. That is 519,000 tenge, or 43.3%, more than the amount invested.

Global corporations also offer stable returns. Coca Cola sells about 2.2 billion servings of beverages every day and pays dividends regularly. In February 2026, the size of its quarterly payout increased for the 64th time in a row, reaching $0.53 per share, or $2.12 a year.

If 30,000 tenge a month is directed into investments instead of buying the usual treats, the total cost over a year will be 360,000 tenge. Over ten years, the investor's own contributions will reach 3.6 million tenge. With an average return of 10% a year, the final capital could approach 6 million tenge, of which 2.4 million would be net investment income.
