Apple has unveiled its first-ever foldable iPhone at a product presentation, according to infohub.kz.
The new CEO, John Ternus, kicked off the iPhone Duo presentation by saying that all previous foldable smartphones were done wrong. Apple has been working on the device for over 10 years. "iPhone Duo is unlike any iPhone you've encountered before. It's completely new yet surprisingly familiar. It's about the size of your passport," the company said.
According to UNIAN, the iPhone Duo supports Apple Pencil (USB-C) on both screens. The Dock and toolbar are positioned on the right side of the small screen.
The iPhone Duo can be folded into any position, and iOS will adapt the interface, including a "tent" mode with widgets for music, calendar, or weather. Additionally, Apple has already worked with developers of Netflix and other popular apps to adapt their interfaces to the new screen format.
For video playback, the inner screen provides up to 31 hours of battery life, while the outer screen offers up to 44 hours. The device will be available in two colors: silver and dark blue.
Now for the specs of this unique smartphone. RBC reports: a titanium frame; an under-display FaceTime camera; a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display that is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max and 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro; when folded, users get a 5.4-inch panel; iOS has been specially adapted for the new form factor with multitasking and large-screen controls; the camera system consists of two 48-megapixel sensors — a main and an ultra-wide. The company promises a perfectly flat flexible surface with minimal visible creases and other typical foldable issues.
And of course, pricing: the iPhone Duo will start at $1,999 (about 908,000 tenge) for 256GB, with the top-tier 2TB version at $2,999 (over 1,360,000 tenge). Global sales begin on October 23.
