Actor Jacob Batalon, known for his role as Ned Leeds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has commented on the ending of the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared his thoughts on the iconic handshake scene that sparked heated discussions among fans, as reported by infohub.kz.
In the film's final scene, Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, decides to reveal his true identity to his former best friend, Ned Leeds. In response, Ned instinctively repeats their secret signature handshake and utters the name 'Peter?' This moment has given rise to numerous theories about whether Ned's memory returned after Doctor Strange's spell.
Batalon stated that the scene is intentionally left open to interpretation. 'First and foremost, you have to ask: did Ned actually remember him? What if it's just muscle memory, and he only remembered the handshake but not Peter himself? Or did he simply repeat the name that Parker just said?' shared the 29-year-old actor.
At the same time, Batalon agreed that there might have been a tiny glimmer of recognition in the character's behavior. The actor expressed hope that this moment will receive an interesting development in future projects of the franchise.
