Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that negotiations with Johnny Depp about his return to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise are ongoing, reports infohub.kz.
The renowned Hollywood producer stated that he is in talks with the 63-year-old actor regarding a possible return to the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The team is currently working on the script for the new film, hoping to successfully complete the process.
According to sources, in the sixth installment, Captain Jack Sparrow may appear as a secondary character, giving way to a new hero, rumored to be played by Margot Robbie. Discussions about resuming collaboration began in 2025, despite the actor's earlier statements about severing ties with Disney amid the legal battle with Amber Heard.
Johnny Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow in all five previous films in the series, the first of which hit theaters in 2003. Producers emphasize that the quality of the written script will be a key factor in the actor's decision.
