A tragedy occurred at the Kapshagai Reservoir: a young resident of Konayev, Andrey Filipovich Kozyatinsky, died while trying to save a drowning vacationer, reports infohub.kz.
Akim (mayor) of Konayev Askhat Berdikhanov announced the incident on his Instagram account. "I received with deep sorrow the news of the tragic death of Andrey Filipovich Kozyatinsky, a resident of Konayev, who tried to save another person at the Kapshagai Reservoir at the cost of his own life. This act became a true example of courage, selflessness, and high human dignity," Berdikhanov wrote.
According to Berdikhanov, Andrey rushed to help a person in trouble without thinking about his own safety. "Only a person with a big heart and strong character can make such a choice. On behalf of the residents of Konayev, I express sincere and deep condolences to Andrey's father, his brother, relatives and friends, to all who knew and loved him. Special words of support go to the family, for whom this loss is an irreparable pain," the akim concluded.
