American singer Katy Perry said she did not give permission for the use of her song "Firework" in a White House video depicting military strikes, reports infohub.kz.
Earlier, the White House TikTok account posted a clip apparently showing strikes on targets in Iran, set to the song "Firework" with the caption "Iran warned."
On social media platform X, the singer wrote that she had not consented to the use of her song. "I am deeply shocked and outraged that the song 'Firework' was used as background music for a video of military strikes on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account. I did not give permission, I was not asked, and I categorically disapprove of this use," Perry said.
The singer said she created the song as a symbol of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through difficult times. "To see a message of self-respect and support used to accompany destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is meant to unite people, not glorify war," Katy Perry emphasized.
