In Kazakhstan, thousands of children will soon receive state support for educational deposits. As reported by infohub.kz, 15,000 children across the country will receive 3.9 billion tenge in their AQYL educational deposits in the coming days. This was announced by Otbasy Bank.
Under the "Keleshek" program, the state credits children from the age of five with initial educational capital into AQYL deposits. Since the program's launch, 35,000 children have received such state support through Otbasy Bank, totaling 8.2 billion tenge.
The bank noted that in the coming days, another 15,000 children who turned five in the first half of 2026 will receive 3.9 billion tenge in deposits. Those reaching the age of five in the second half of the year will receive payments in February 2027. In total, by the end of 2026, about 30,000 children will receive educational capital amounting to 7.5 billion tenge.
Under the "Keleshek" program, in August the state will credit 260,000 tenge to a child's account. To receive and retain these funds, parents must open an AQYL deposit and make regular contributions until the child reaches adulthood. The minimum annual contribution is 24 MCI, or 103,800 tenge in 2026. For children from socially vulnerable categories, it is 12 MCI, or 51,900 tenge.
Additionally, the deposit earns interest from both Otbasy Bank (GESV from 14.75%) and the state (5%).
At age 18, funds accumulated in the educational deposit can be supplemented with money received by the child under the "National Fund for Children" program and used for university admission. By that time, the account could hold several million tenge.
Earlier it was reported that Alatau City Bank (formerly Jusan Bank) increased rates on the Aqyl educational savings deposit by 1.5 percentage points.
