In the Turkistan Region, a court has sentenced a woman who gave birth in an outdoor toilet and left her newborn in a cesspit, reports infohub.kz.

According to the press service of the Turkistan Regional Courts, the Sairam District Court considered a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 100 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Murder of a newborn child by the mother").

In April 2025, D. had sexual intercourse with an unidentified person, resulting in pregnancy. She then hid her pregnancy from relatives, did not register for pregnancy at a medical facility, and did not undergo medical examinations.

In December 2025, while at home in the Sairam District, nine months pregnant, she gave birth to a live baby in the toilet in the yard behind the residential building. She then left the newborn in the toilet's cesspit.

It is specified that the accused did not take any action to preserve the baby's life. To conceal the fact of the birth, she took sand mixed with stones and earth from the yard and covered the newborn in the pit with it. Thus, D. committed the murder of her newborn child during childbirth.

The court found the citizen guilty of the criminal offense and sentenced her to 2 years of restriction of liberty. The sentence has entered into legal force.
