A woman suspected of pickpocketing on public transport has been detained in Kokshetau. The suspect, who arrived from the Almaty region, is described by police as a "tourist thief," reports infohub.kz.
According to the portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Polisia.kz, two reports of pickpocketing were filed with the city police within an hour. The victims, local residents, discovered their belongings missing after bus rides: wallets with documents and bank cards. In one case, money was withdrawn from the victim's card.
During operational search measures, the suspect's identity was established. She turned out to be a resident of the Talgar district of the Almaty region. An investigation is currently underway to establish all circumstances of the incidents and to check the detainee's involvement in other similar crimes.
The police remind citizens: during rush hours, when public transport is especially crowded, do not keep wallets, phones, and documents in outer pockets of clothing or easily accessible compartments of bags. If you notice a loss, immediately contact the police, and if you lose a bank card, block it right away via the bank's mobile app or by phone. Prompt reporting allows police to take necessary measures faster and establish the circumstances of the incident.
