A 24-year-old Syrian citizen has been arrested in Alanya, Turkey, on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 35-year-old Kazakh woman, according to infohub.kz.
According to Turkish agency DHA, the incident occurred on the night of July 16 in the Güllerpınarı district. Investigators believe the woman met the man on Bar Street, after which they went together to a hotel on Sahire Tüzün Street.
After some time, the man left the hotel. The Kazakh woman then called emergency services at 112 and reported that she had been sexually assaulted and that her mobile phone was stolen, allegedly by the suspect.
Alanya police officers detained the man on a coastal road. He was questioned at the police station with an interpreter present, then taken to court. 'The court ordered the suspect to be arrested and placed in a closed correctional facility in Alanya,' the agency reported.
The incident is also being widely discussed in local social media communities. Posts note that the suspect faces charges of sexual assault, and the investigation is ongoing.
