Kazakhstan plans to begin production of Chinese car brands Jetour, Changan, Chery, and Haval, reports infohub.kz.

Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapaev stated during a government hour in the Mazhilis that local automakers are required to boost the share of CKD assembly to 50% of total output by 2027. The target for this year is approximately 20%, rising to 30% in 2025 and 40% in 2026.

Concurrently, projects are being developed to create an auto component base at small industrial zones in Kostanay and Almaty. Seat production has already been launched, and a multi-brand factory for Chinese cars is under construction. Plans also include facilities for manufacturing plastic components and multimedia systems for vehicles.

Sharlapaev assured that from January 1, 2026, welding and painting technologies will be adopted for every car brand produced in Kazakhstan. By 2027, around 200,000 vehicles annually are planned to be assembled using the CKD method.

Sharlapaev specified that SaryarkaAvtoProm's car lineup will be expanded with the Jetour brand in 2024. Talks are also underway with Czech automaker Skoda. Furthermore, the Astana Motors group has brought in well-known Chinese brands Changan, Chery, and Haval for production, with the launch planned for 2025.
