In the first half of 2026, Kazakh consumers received 1.5 billion tenge in refunds for defective products and poor-quality services. The amount returned increased by 15.3% compared to the same period last year, according to infohub.kz.

Following the review of complaints, claims were resolved in favor of 15,000 consumers. Another 15,400 people received legal assistance and advice, while the applications of 12,000 citizens were forwarded to relevant government agencies.

Consumer complaints led to 776 inspections by regional departments. As a result, 892 administrative cases were initiated, and the total amount of fines imposed reached 17.3 million tenge.

One of the largest refunds was a compensation to a buyer of a Lexus LX 600. After legal support from the department, Toyota Tsusho Kazakhstan Auto returned the full cost of the vehicle — 79.49 million tenge.

Significant sums were also returned to property buyers. In the Mangystau region, a dispute over a shared-equity agreement with the housing cooperative Tuha Development was settled out of court: the consumer received more than 14 million tenge. In Shymkent, a buyer of an apartment purchased from Kanfar Building LLP got back 15.1 million tenge after complaints about defects in the property were examined.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan continued product safety and quality inspections under the project 'Sapaly Onim' (Quality Product). In six months, experts examined 874 types of goods and found violations in 623 items. Most of the cases (84%) involved incorrect labeling, while 16% concerned sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Following the inspections, measures were taken against 462 entrepreneurs.
