Kazakhstan has approved a new procedure for rewarding citizens who report corruption offenses. According to an order by the chairman of the National Security Committee, the reward can reach 17.3 million tenge, reports infohub.kz.

The order, signed by the chairman of the National Security Committee on August 5, clarifies the mechanism for reviewing applications and paying rewards to citizens who have informed about a planned, ongoing, or already committed corruption offense.

The document notes that civil servants whose official duties include mandatory reporting to their superiors or authorized bodies about corruption facts they have become aware of are encouraged by the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee or its territorial bodies. They are eligible for a certificate of merit or a letter of thanks.

The reward amount, calculated using a special formula, will depend on the amount of the bribe or the damage caused. At the maximum provided payment amount, a citizen can receive up to 17.3 million tenge. This amount is calculated based on current standards and the monthly calculation index (MCI) for 2026.

After a citizen's application, the anti-corruption body must send the necessary documents to the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee or its territorial body within 10 working days. However, for awarding a certificate of merit or expressing gratitude, the citizen's own application is not included in the package of documents.

After receiving the materials, the Service or territorial body has five working days to check their completeness and compliance with established requirements. Then the materials are reviewed by a special commission, which must include at least five employees of the Service or the territorial body of the National Security Committee.

If the commission decides to reward, the head of the Service or territorial body issues a corresponding order within one working day. This order serves as the basis for paying a one-time monetary reward, as well as for awarding a certificate of merit or expressing gratitude.

The money must be transferred to the applicant's bank account within a month after the order is issued. The amount of the one-time reward is determined in accordance with established rules, depending on the circumstances and results of the review of the corruption report.

The order comes into force on August 22.
