After rumors spread on social media about the fate of two conscript sailors, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan published a video featuring them, reports infohub.kz.
The sailors in question are conscripts Akhmetov A.A. and Magauiya A.A. Rumors about them began to emerge after it was initially reported that 19 servicemen had been swept into the Caspian Sea, but later it became known that there were 17.
The Ministry of Defense stated that during the ongoing naval exercises, some personnel were on shore carrying out planned training tasks.
"Conscript sailors Akhmetov A.A. and Magauiya A.A. were part of a group of servicemen performing training tasks on shore. Currently, these servicemen are at their military unit and are serving in accordance with the daily routine," the ministry said.
To confirm its statement, the Ministry of Defense showed a video with the two servicemen.
Recall that on September 24, during a combat training task, due to a sudden and sharp deterioration in weather conditions and gusty winds, 17 servicemen were swept into the Caspian Sea, 14 of whom died. Three were rescued.
After the tragedy, Dauran Kosanov was dismissed from his post as Minister of Defense. Aidos Myrzakhmetov was appointed in his place.
