In the East Kazakhstan region, 35 people have been brought to administrative responsibility for violating citizenship laws, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to the regional police department, since the beginning of the year, more than 550 citizens have lost Kazakh citizenship. Most of them acquired citizenship of other states. However, some continue to use Kazakh documents for entry and residence in the country, hoping to retain social, pension, and other state benefits.
For violations in the sphere of citizenship, 35 individuals have been held administratively liable. In 26 cases, citizens failed to report acquiring foreign citizenship within the established timeframe, and 9 others continued to use a passport or ID card of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
One such case was detected by migration service officers involving a 64-year-old resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk. She had acquired citizenship of another state but did not report it in time and continued to use Kazakh documents. During the inspection, her documents were confiscated and the loss of citizenship was registered.
