Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy has denied reports of a possible complete shutdown of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), reports infohub.kz.
On its official Telegram channel, the ministry said that such a scenario is not being considered. “This scenario is not being considered,” ministry representatives said, commenting on media reports.
The ministry also clarified that on July 31, CPC temporarily suspended the oil pipeline. However, oil intake from shippers and filling of tank storage facilities continue.
Since August 1, the daily oil intake stands at 100,000 tonnes. Further increases in transport volumes directly depend on the timely arrival of tankers for loading at the marine terminal.
“The Ministry of Energy is in constant contact with CPC and shippers. The current situation is under control,” the ministry concluded.
Earlier, on July 30, the CPC press service reported an attack on a tanker in the waters of the marine terminal, describing it as a “terrorist” attack.
As a result of the incident, the tanker “Niffos Sifnos”, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, was affected. The shipper is Tengizchevroil LLP (Chevron, Kazakhstan). At the time of the attack, the vessel was loading oil at an offshore mooring unit.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy also commented on the situation later.
