Kyrgyzstan's power system temporarily switched to isolated operation after a technical failure in Kazakhstan's unified energy grid, according to infohub.kz.
The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that on August 14, 2026, at 15:34, due to an external disconnection on a high-voltage line connecting the northern and southern parts of Kazakhstan's power system, the Central Asian Unified Power System (CAUPS) was separated into an isolated energy hub.
"The power system of the Kyrgyz Republic has temporarily switched to isolated operation. To protect equipment, automatic systems activated according to regulations," the ministry noted.
The situation is under control. Specialists are taking necessary measures to stabilize operations and restore the normal power supply scheme.
"Currently, there are no disconnected consumers; electricity supply is uninterrupted. Information on the cause of the brief power interruptions will be provided later," the ministry concluded.
It is recalled that on August 14, 2026, at 14:37, a technical failure occurred in Kazakhstan's unified energy grid, leading to the disconnection of 500 kV transmission lines "Agadyr - Ulken" L-5300 and L-5320, as well as "Aktogay - Taldykorgan" L-5400.
