In July, Kazakhstan saw a notable increase in the number of registered enterprises with founders from Nigeria and Sierra Leone, reports infohub.kz.
According to the DataHub Telegram channel, citing the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nigeria saw the largest increase among the two countries: the number of registered companies rose by 68 in a month, from 359 to 427. This is 19% more than on July 1. Nigeria remains the leader among African countries in the number of registered companies in Kazakhstan and ranks 21st among all partner countries.
All enterprises with Nigerian founders are small businesses. More than half of them (56%) operate in the education sector. The main increase in July came from organizations in the category "Other services" — their number grew by 61. A notable rise in Nigerian companies was previously recorded in 2023, while in 2024 and 2025 their numbers declined.
An even sharper dynamic was observed for companies with founders from Sierra Leone. In a month, their number grew from 30 to 75, an increase of 45 enterprises.
Almost all of the growth also came from the "Other services" sector: on July 1, there were none, but by August 1, there were 44. Another 20 organizations with founders from Sierra Leone operate in education, one more than the previous month.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Astana International Financial Centre included digital assets in its investment tax residency program. Foreign investors can now qualify for a long-term visa and tax residency in Kazakhstan with investments from $150,000 in digital assets through licensed AIFC platforms.
