In Kazakhstan, wait times for PET/CT diagnostic procedures have significantly decreased from three months to 14 days, thanks to the introduction of digital services in the healthcare system, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Health, over 215 million medical services were provided last year, of which 190.8 million (88.6%) were delivered electronically.
One notable result of digitalization is the transition of medical documents to electronic form. Twelve types of medical certificates have been digitized, five of which are issued exclusively online. In 2025, citizens received over 8.5 million electronic medical certificates — 2.2 times more than the previous year.
More Kazakhs are booking doctor appointments through digital services. In 2025, 5.6 million citizens used online booking, allowing them to schedule visits without additional trips to the registration desk.
Starting in 2026, digital support is planned for key population groups, including over 7 million children under 18, about 5 million women of fertile age, and 400,000 pregnant women.
New digital services are also planned: a unified doctor appointment schedule based on online booking, an e-Health portal and mobile app for citizens, medical workers, and organizations. Additionally, feedback tools and confirmation of medical service receipt will be developed.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the Ministry of Health had put forward for discussion a draft order expanding the list of medical services available online. This would allow Kazakhs to have follow-up appointments and receive diagnostic test results via the internet.
