Astana, Kazakhstan – A batch of decorative plants imported from Russia was discovered and destroyed for violating phytosanitary regulations, according to a report on infohub.kz.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that the plants lacked the mandatory phytosanitary certificate issued by the national plant protection organization of the exporting country. An administrative case was opened against the legal entity for violating plant quarantine laws.

“In line with phytosanitary safety requirements, the cargo owner was issued an order to rectify the violation. The owner chose to destroy the detained product by incineration,” the ministry said. The Ministry of Agriculture reminded that compliance with these rules is aimed at preventing the introduction and spread of dangerous quarantine pests that could harm agriculture and the environment.
