Kazakhstan has been running the Safe Home (Bezopasny Dom) operational and preventive operation since October 5, with police conducting mass checks of residential properties. The Interior Ministry announced the interim results of the raids, infohub.kz reports.
According to the ministry's information media portal, police have visited around 249,000 residential properties so far, including 12,500 rented apartments. The main goal of the operation is to prevent offenses in residential areas.
"The checks uncovered about 9,000 cases of people living without registration. A total of 7,189 foreign nationals were brought to administrative responsibility. Police also took 2,128 people with no fixed place of residence into custody," the ministry said.
In parallel, officers are working with people on the preventive register: around 6,000 registered individuals were checked and 1,511 violations were stopped.
"A separate focus of the operation is preventing offenses among minors. During the raids, police stopped 3,883 cases of minors being out at night without an adult. A total of 396 teenagers were placed in juvenile adaptation centers. In Almaty, for example, police found a minor in a cafe in violation of the restrictions set by law. An administrative case was opened against the owner of the establishment under Part 2 of Article 132 of the Kazakh Administrative Code. The cafe's operations were also suspended for 10 days," the ministry added.
The operation will run until November 5.
The ministry stressed that another important area of work is tracking down criminals and locating missing citizens.
"In the first nine months of 2026, police located more than 17,000 people who had been listed as missing. Officers also detained 1,031 suspects wanted by Kazakh law enforcement agencies. Among them was a 67-year-old man detained in Astana. He was wanted on suspicion of fraud. According to the case file, back in 2018 in Karaganda he took goods worth more than 401 million tenge from a commercial organization's warehouse under the pretext of selling them," the ministry said.
Police are also searching for people hiding from law enforcement agencies in other countries. A total of 537 people wanted by CIS and other foreign countries were detained in Kazakhstan. One such case was recorded in Almaty, where police detained a 45-year-old foreign national suspected of fraud worth more than 1.3 billion tenge. In 2023 in Bishkek, he took money from a victim under the pretext of arranging delivery of cosmetics from South Korea.
