Digitalization of funding for private schools has allowed Kazakhstan to save 8 billion tenge in four months, reports infohub.kz.
According to the government's press service, the state educational order is now calculated based on verified data, and payment for educational services is processed through digital tools.
In autumn 2025, Kazakhstan launched the OrtaBilim service, which transferred per-capita funding of private schools to the e-Qazyna platform of the Ministry of Finance. Placement of the state order was handed over to education departments.
The amount of funding is automatically calculated taking into account the number of students, learning conditions, and established standards. Data on student enrollment is verified in real time through integration with academic performance systems, including Kündelik, and databases of other state bodies.
To date, 899 private schools have been digitized on the platform. From January to May 2026, the operator paid invoices for 749 schools totaling 102.9 billion tenge.
Digital checks identified 145 schools located in buildings not intended for education: cottages, offices, and former industrial premises. The volume of the state order for them amounts to 38 billion tenge.
Starting January 1, 2027, the state order will cease funding private schools whose buildings are not designated for educational activities.
Until then, school owners will be able to bring their facilities into compliance with sanitary and urban planning requirements. The reform aims to ensure that budget funds go to schools that actually provide educational services and meet established standards.
