Snow, icy roads and wind gusts of up to 30 meters per second and more are expected on October 8 in eastern Kazakhstan. Frost is forecast at night in three regions, while the North Kazakhstan Region will see rain and thunderstorms, according to infohub.kz.
A storm warning has been issued in most regions of the country.
A cyclone will bring rain to the north, the center of the country and the mountainous areas of the southeast. In the East Kazakhstan Region, rain mixed with snow and icy roads are expected at night in the east, with precipitation continuing during the day in the east and in the mountains.
"Stronger winds, fog and icy roads at night in the east are expected across the country," the forecast says.
The strongest gusts — up to 30 meters per second and more — are forecast during the day in the Abai and East Kazakhstan Regions.
In the Akmola Region at night and in the morning, in the North Kazakhstan Region at night in places and during the day, as well as during the day in certain districts of the Pavlodar, Karaganda Regions and the Ulytau Region, gusts will reach 23–28 meters per second.
Petropavlovsk is expected to see rain, thunderstorms and winds of up to 23–28 meters per second. In Kokshetau, daytime gusts will reach 23 meters per second, while in Pavlodar, Karaganda and Zhezkazgan they will reach 15–20 meters per second.
In the Aktobe, Turkistan and Kyzylorda Regions and the mountainous areas of the Zhambyl Region, winds will strengthen in places to 15–20 meters per second.
Astana is forecast to see winds of up to 15–20 meters per second, at times reaching 23 meters per second at night and in the morning.
At night in the north of the Almaty Region and in the mountains of the Turkistan Region, frosts down to minus 1 degree are expected on the soil surface. In the north of the Zhetisu Region — down to minus 2 degrees.
Fog is forecast in the mountainous areas of the Almaty and Zhambyl Regions, the Zhetisu Region, as well as in places in the East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Mangystau, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan Regions and the Ulytau Region. In Aktau and Uralsk it is expected at night and in the morning.
Extreme fire danger persists in the Kyzylorda Region, in the west, south and center of the Aktobe Region and the Ulytau Region, and in the south of the Atyrau Region. The warning is also in effect in Kyzylorda, Zhezkazgan and Atyrau.
High fire danger is forecast in the Atyrau Region, in the center of the Mangystau Region, in the west, south and east of the West Kazakhstan Region, in the east of the Almaty and Aktobe Regions and the Zhetisu Region, in the north and center of the Kyzylorda Region, and in the south of the Kostanay Region.
Earlier, forecasters promised Kazakhstanis that after the first snow the country would warm up sharply to +27 degrees.
