Kazakhstan's artistic swimmers achieved a remarkable success at the 2026 Junior World Championships in Budapest, winning two medals in a single day, reports infohub.kz.
In the mixed duet free routine, Yasmina Islamova and Aldiyar Ramazanov scored 248.1058 points to take second place, trailing only the Spanish duo of Arlet Arnan Santacruz and Eneko Sanchez Aguilar, who posted 263.2992. The bronze went to Japan's Heizo Aitaka and Manami Dodo with 246.9850 points.
This silver is Kazakhstan's first medal in mixed duets at the Junior World Championships in artistic swimming, making it a historic achievement.
On the same day, the national team excelled in the acrobatic routine. The Kazakh squad, comprising Sofia Ishchenko, Yasmina Islamova, Dayana Zhamanchalova, Makpal Kalmurzy, Polina Merzlyakova, Aldiyar Ramazanov, Aiganym Saim, and Anastasia Voronkova, scored 203.0926 points to also take second place.
Russia won the event with 232.2147 points, while Belarus took bronze with 200.9777 points.
Thus, Kazakhstan's team now has three medals at this tournament. Earlier, Viktor Druzin won bronze in the solo technical routine.
The competition in the Hungarian capital concludes on August 16.
