The July heat in Kazakhstan has broken temperature records in several cities. In Turkistan, the air warmed up to +47.6 degrees, reports infohub.kz.
According to Kazhydromet, in July the air temperature across most of the country exceeded the climatic norm by 1–4 degrees. In Almaty, four new records were set during the month: on July 16, the temperature rose to +38 degrees, on July 17 to +39.2, on July 18 to +40, and on July 20 it reached +41.5 degrees.
In Shymkent, the air warmed up to +45.2 degrees. Two temperature records from 1915 were broken here: the reading on July 16 rose from +41.1 to +45.2 degrees, and on July 17 from +40.1 to +45.2.
High temperatures were also recorded in other cities. In Astana, on July 14, thermometers rose to +38.6 degrees, and in Ust-Kamenogorsk on July 16 to +39.7.
In Kyzylorda, on July 17, the temperature reached +45.2 degrees. Even higher was in Turkistan: on July 18, the air warmed up to +47.6 degrees. The previous record, set in 2019, was +43.7 degrees.
July brought not only heat. In some areas, precipitation significantly exceeded the climatic norm. For example, in Zhetysai of the Turkistan region, rainfall for the month was 15 times higher than the climatic norm.
