KazAvtoZhol, the national road operator, has warned contractors and subcontractors about scammers posing as intermediaries who offer to help secure road projects and work volumes for a fee, reports infohub.kz.

The unknown individuals contact company representatives and claim to have connections within the national company. For money, they promise to influence the distribution of work or the outcomes of procurement procedures.

"The company's management and employees have not authorized third parties to conduct negotiations, promise to obtain projects, lobby for suppliers' interests, or influence tender results," KazAvtoZhol said in a statement.

There has been a case where outsiders came directly to the company's head office and tried to offer "solutions to project issues." The security service identified this fact, and the materials were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

"These individuals have no relation to the activities of KazAvtoZhol. All procurement procedures are carried out strictly in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the national company said.

Information about tenders, participation conditions, application deadlines, and procurement results is published on the official web portal of public procurement of Kazakhstan.

The company emphasized that such offers may contain signs of fraud, illegal intermediation, and attempts to involve market participants in corruption schemes.

"The company urges contractors and subcontractors to be vigilant, not to transfer money to dubious individuals, not to engage in unofficial negotiations, and to verify all procurement information only through official sources," the statement reads.

Suspicious offers can be reported to KazAvtoZhol's anti-corruption compliance service via the hotline +7 (7172) 64-87-35, through the call center 1403, or by email at hotline@qaj.kz.
