After Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone Duo, Samsung released a Galaxy Fold 8 commercial starring a Tim Cook. The Korean manufacturer clearly aimed to poke fun at its rival and remind viewers of its years of experience in the foldable phone segment, according to infohub.kz.
The ad does indeed feature a Tim Cook, but not the man who recently stepped down as Apple's CEO — rather, his full namesake from New Zealand. This man works as a real estate agent and appears in Samsung's spot with the tagline: "Tim Cook has an announcement! And for the first time, it's about Galaxy!" In the video, he talks about the company's foldable smartphones and emphasizes Samsung's long-standing experience in the segment.
The ad clearly plays on the difference between Samsung and Apple. The first Galaxy Fold launched back in 2019, while Apple only introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, in September 2026.
Meanwhile, the real Tim Cook has not held the position of Apple CEO since September 1.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that Apple held a major fall event, where it showed the first foldable iPhone Duo, the new iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, as well as AirPods 5. Now it is possible to get a rough idea of how much the new products will cost Kazakhstanis.
