Payment operations on the bank accounts of several Kazakh citizens were suspended following checks of mobile transfers and POS-terminal receipts. The reason was not the checks themselves, but taxpayers' failure to respond to notices from the state revenue authorities, the website infohub.kz reports.
The State Revenue Committee issued the statement. Its press service explained exactly why payment operations are suspended and how the freeze is lifted.
"Payment operations on accounts are suspended not because of the desk audit itself, but because the taxpayer has not responded to the notice. State revenue authorities conduct desk audits on a regular basis. They are currently carried out using data from second-tier banks (receipts through POS terminals) and mobile transfers. If this data does not match the tax reporting, a notice is sent to the taxpayer," the statement said.
The notices were sent in September, according to the committee. Taxpayers have 30 working days, equivalent to 45 calendar days, from the date the notice is delivered to their taxpayer account to respond. If no response is received within that period, payment operations on the accounts are suspended.
The notice can be complied with in two ways: by filing additional tax reports and paying the taxes, or by providing an explanation of the reasons for the discrepancies.
"As soon as the taxpayer responds to the notice, the suspension is lifted and the accounts work again. Notices can be checked and answered in the taxpayer's personal account," the State Revenue Committee said.
