A resident of Kostanay has been sentenced to a long prison term for the brutal murder of his former wife. The tragedy occurred due to jealousy, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the Kostanay Regional Court, a criminal case against a resident of Kostanay, identified as S., was considered today for committing murder.
According to case materials, in March 2026, during a confrontation with his ex-wife, driven by jealousy and with the intent to kill, the man deliberately fired two aimed shots from a hunting carbine at the woman's head and chest. The victim died at the scene from her injuries.
After the crime, the defendant fled the scene but later voluntarily surrendered to the police and confessed.
During the trial, no aggravating circumstances were established. The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison, to be served in medium-security correctional facilities.
