A deadly road accident involving a shuttle bus and a Volkswagen Passat has occurred in Kostanay. According to the Kostanay Region Police Department, the driver of the car ran a red light before the collision and had earlier ignored police orders to stop, the website infohub.kz reports.

Details of the incident were provided by the Kostanay Region Police Department, which said a pre-trial investigation had been launched into the crash involving the Volkswagen Passat and the shuttle bus.
Police also released footage from a patrol car: the video shows officers following the Volkswagen and ordering the driver to stop, but he keeps driving.
“It has been established that on 25 October, the driver of the car, in violation of traffic rules, ignored police orders to stop and continued driving. At the intersection of Nazarbayev Avenue and Altynsarin Street, he ran a red light and collided with a bus. As a result of the collision, the driver died and a passenger was hospitalized. There were 55 people on the bus; two were treated at the scene,” the Police Department said.
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, and all circumstances of the incident are being established.
