For the first time in the history of the combat ranks of the Burkit special forces of Kazakhstan's National Guard, a woman has joined as a soldier — Kymbat, known by the callsign "Kitana," who previously represented the country at international competitions, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the agency's press service, the young woman's path to one of the country's most elite special units began with the international SWAT Challenge held in Dubai. "Kitana" competed as part of the women's team "Tomiris," representing Kazakhstan.
In the women's category, the Kazakh athletes outperformed their rivals and took first place. In the overall team standings they finished 18th, ahead of a number of men's teams.
After that, Kymbat was invited to join the detachment — making her the first female soldier in the history of the unit.
The agency noted that "Kitana" is a six-time champion of Kazakhstan in hand-to-hand combat, a silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist at world championships, and a silver medalist at the World Cup and the European and Asian championships.
In jiu-jitsu, she has also been a three-time world and Asian champion and a two-time European champion. In MMA, she won titles as champion of Kazakhstan and Asia, and became national champion and a bronze medalist at the world combat sambo championship.
At the World Police Games, Kymbat won a gold medal in judo and a silver in jiu-jitsu. She is a Master of Sport of international class in hand-to-hand combat and jiu-jitsu, and a Master of Sport in sambo and MMA.
