Russia has no intention of declaring a "pause" to negotiate with Ukraine. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a UN Security Council meeting in New York, according to infohub.kz.
According to the head of Russia's foreign policy department, Moscow is ready for talks to settle the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Lavrov emphasized that "although Europe wants exactly this, with the same simple goal of getting a breather and replenishing the depleted military arsenals of the Kyiv regime."
In New York, Sergey Lavrov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The head of the U.S. State Department, in turn, assured that Washington is ready to play a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky also expressed hope for ending the conflict with Russia by winter with the help of Donald Trump. The U.S. President said he is working on how to settle the conflict in Ukraine and also hopes that the Ukrainian conflict can be resolved before winter. The American leader also suggested he might hold another in-person meeting with his Russian counterpart.
On the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, a meeting took place between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, after which the Ukrainian leader announced readiness for talks with Russia.
