World-renowned singer and actress Lea Salonga will become the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Live Performance category, according to infohub.kz.
The ceremony for the 2,855th star will take place in front of the famous Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Guest speaker will be actress Ming-Na Wen, who voiced Mulan in the Disney animated film, while Salonga provided the singing voice for the character.
Salonga gained international fame for her role as Kim in the musical "Miss Saigon," for which she won a Tony Award. She also made history as the first Asian actress to play Eponine and Fantine in the Broadway production of "Les Misérables." In addition to her successful theater career, she lent her voice to Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin" and Fa Mulan in "Mulan," earning her the title of Disney Legend.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce award marks a significant milestone in her 45-year career. Following the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, the singer will also receive a special award at the Manila International Film Festival in Beverly Hills.
