Russian singer, composer and songwriter Leonid Agutin has dedicated a poem to the traditional Kyrgyz headwear known as the ak-kalpak, which was presented to him on stage, the website infohub.kz reports.
The 58-year-old artist noted that the ak-kalpak goes well with his white beard. He thanked the audiences at his concerts in Bishkek and Tashkent.
"We played in Bishkek, and before that in Tashkent, and before that we played — I can't even remember where. But today they finally gave me this hat on stage, and it suits my white beard! Bishkek, Tashkent, thank you! You are wonderful!" NUR.KZ quoted him as saying.
Fans of the singer responded to the gift and the performance with numerous comments. "An amazing concert, Leonid! It was the first time I saw a concert start right on time and run for two hours without a single break. It was delightful. It went straight to my heart," one audience member wrote.
Others thanked the artist for the music: "Thank you for the wonderful music, it was beautiful," "Our Kyrgyz kalpak suits you. Thank you very much for a magnificent concert!"
There were also joking wishes: "It looks great on you! Just grow your beard a little longer, put on a chapan and sit in the middle of a yurt with a bowl of kumys in your hands! That would be really colorful!" One comment, which gave the publication its headline, read: "An ak-kalpak on an aksakal."
