Lionsgate has released a new trailer for its Hunger Games film centered on a young Haymitch Abernathy. The movie is set to premiere in theaters and IMAX on November 20, according to infohub.kz.
This marks the second prequel in the blockbuster franchise. Based on Suzanne Collins' book, the film depicts events set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story.
The plot centers on Haymitch Abernathy's youth. He will eventually become Katniss's mentor, but as a young man he must survive the arena himself. This time, the 50th Hunger Games—a Quarter Quell—are held. Instead of 24 tributes, 48 teenagers are sent into the arena—four from each district.
Sixteen-year-old Haymitch tries not just to survive but to defy the brutal Capitol and President Snow from within. His actions spark the future rebellion in Panem.
Joseph Zada ("East of Eden") stars in the lead role. The cast also includes Ralph Fiennes ("The Return," "Schindler's List," "Conclave"), Jesse Plemons ("Love & Death," "Breaking Bad"), Glenn Close ("101 Dalmatians"), Elle Fanning ("Predator: Badlands," "The Great," "Margot's Got Money Troubles"), McKenna Grace ("Ghostbusters: Afterlife," "Young Sheldon") and other stars. Francis Lawrence returns as director.
