Lithuania is considering introducing a mandatory anti-war declaration for Russian and Belarusian artists wishing to enter the country for public performances, reports infohub.kz.
According to Deutsche Welle, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proposed requiring cultural figures from Russia and Belarus to sign a document condemning the war in Ukraine. "The statement will be made public. Refusal to sign this agreement will deprive you of the opportunity to enter the country," the ministry said.
The foreign ministry proposes introducing the amendments from January 1, 2027. They would also include a ban on entry to Lithuania for those who directly or indirectly supported or participated in the war, as well as those who have engaged in public activities in the "occupied territories of Ukraine."
Additionally, the ministry proposes banning Russians and Belarusians with Lithuanian residence permits from buying property near facilities crucial to national security or military training grounds.
