Orbis Fortis, a financial company owned by brothers Sohrab and Farrukh Mahmudov, has ended its first six weeks of operations with a profit. According to the financial report, for the period from registration to December 31, 2025, the company earned 188 thousand tenge, reports infohub.kz.
The company was registered on November 13, 2025, so the report covers just over six weeks of work. During this period, administrative expenses amounted to 2.157 million tenge. At the same time, the company received financial income of 2.344 million tenge, which allowed it to reach a pre-tax profit of 188 thousand tenge. The total comprehensive income for the reporting period was the same amount.
The main activity of Orbis Fortis is brokerage in the securities and commodities markets. However, the company does not manage National Fund assets, the National Bank's gold and foreign exchange reserves, or pension assets.
As of December 31, 2025, the sole shareholder of Orbis Fortis was Orbis Finance. The ultimate beneficial owners of the company are Sohrab and Farrukh Mahmudov, each holding a 49.99% stake in the ownership structure.
Sohrab and Farrukh Mahmudov rank 37th in the Forbes ranking of the richest businessmen in Kazakhstan. The publication estimates each brother's fortune at $310 million.
Together, the brothers control the diversified group Orbis Kazakhstan. It includes the oilfield services division Orbis Oilfield, which provides engineering, technical, and transport services. Orbis Agro is engaged in crop production, storage of agricultural products in its own elevators, trading, and dairy farming.
The group also develops a real estate direction through Orbis Development. Among its projects are the Almaty hotel, the under-construction Jurt shopping and entertainment center, and the Orbis Clinic medical complex in Astana.
In addition, Orbis Kazakhstan operates in tourism, financial services, and other business areas.
