Rescuers have found two teenagers who had gone hiking in the mountains the previous day and failed to return on time, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a report about their disappearance was received today in the Bostandyk district, near the Big Almaty Peak, at an altitude of about 3,680 meters above sea level. Rescuers were unable to contact the teenagers or obtain their geolocation data.

Rescue teams from the Monitoring and Operational Response Center immediately launched a search. The teenagers were found in the Aiusai gorge.

Rescuers escorted them out of the mountainous area to a safe location and handed them over to their parents. The teenagers did not require medical assistance.

"The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges tourists to study their route in advance, take into account weather and terrain difficulty, inform relatives of their planned route and return time. Rescuers also recommend keeping your phone charged and not hiking alone," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, Kursiv reported how Belarusian tourists discovered the body of an unknown climber on the Severtsev glacier. Rescuers evacuated the remains and equipment by helicopter from an altitude of about 3,400 meters. Later, the climber's daughter identified his backpack from photos on social media. It turned out that the man had been missing for 19 years.
