Russian bailiffs have begun enforcing the collection of a criminal fine of more than 8.2 million rubles from rapper Alisher Morgenshtern, citing his failure to comply with foreign agent obligations, according to infohub.kz.
NUR.KZ, citing RIA Novosti, reports that in April the musician was sentenced in absentia to a 7 million ruble fine. He was accused of evading the duties of a foreign agent.
According to the publication, in June the court increased the fine to 8.2 million rubles. At the same time, the seizure of the defendant's property, valued at an amount equivalent to the recovery, was maintained.
Now bailiffs have started collecting the money from the rapper. According to documents, on August 20 the court issued a writ of execution — Morgenshtern did not pay the fine voluntarily. As a result, on September 1, enforcement proceedings were initiated against him to collect a "criminal fine as the main type of punishment" in the amount of more than 8.2 million rubles.
The publication notes that Morgenshtern was added to the foreign agents registry in spring 2022. He has lived outside Russia for the past several years.
