Moscow prosecutors are pushing for a new criminal case against renowned rapper Andrei Menshikov, known by his stage name Ligalize, according to infohub.kz.

As reported by RIA Novosti, the musician is suspected of failing to fulfill duties imposed on individuals designated as foreign agents by Russia's Ministry of Justice. The prosecutor's office press service said that inspection materials have been sent to investigative authorities to decide on bringing Menshikov to criminal responsibility under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, which provides for punishment for evading duties established by legislation on foreign agents.

It is noted that the 49-year-old artist had previously been twice brought to administrative responsibility for violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent, but continued to publish posts on social media without labeling them as materials created by a foreign agent. Ligalize was added to the register of foreign agents at the end of 2024, with the stated reason being his dissemination of unreliable information about the actions of Russian authorities and armed forces.
