Kazakhstan produced 171,000 cars last year and plans to build 191,000 this year, Industry and Construction Minister Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said at a government briefing, infohub.kz reports.

According to the industry minister, the cost of cars made in Kazakhstan is generally declining. "As far as I know, over the past months it has been around 11% (a decrease — Ed.)," the minister said.

Beyond the 11% price drop, promotional campaigns are also under way in the country that allow people to buy cars at reduced prices.

"Prices for cars produced in Kazakhstan are falling. I see a trend that prices are going down. The closer we get to the end of the year, the more the models produced this year... (get cheaper — Ed.)," Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said.

The minister added that Kazakhs often feel toward the end of the year that models produced in the current year are becoming outdated and that they should buy a car made in the new year. "It is November and December now. It is clear there will be discounts. It seems to me prices will fall," he said.
