A new-generation BYD Han sedan has been caught on camera for the first time on Chinese roads during testing. The car keeps the brand's signature Dragon Face front end, while a lidar unit now sits on the roof, according to infohub.kz.
Chinese sources describe the model as the third-generation Han. In the lineup it will slot below the Han L and the flagship Da Han. The published photos show the familiar Dragon Face front end, a rear light bar and a minimalist cabin with a central screen and physical buttons on the console.
The standout technical feature is the roof-mounted lidar. Its presence may point to the DiPilot 300 driver-assistance system, also known as God's Eye B.
It is not yet known whether the production version will get additional side lidars. The new Han is also expected to offer DiSus-C and DiSus-A active suspensions with adjustable dampers and air suspension.
The new Han is expected to be available in electric and plug-in hybrid versions. Both could get the second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging ultra-fast charging technology.
The starting price is forecast at 200,000 yuan, or about 13.4 million tenge. For comparison, the current Han in China costs between 169,000 and 226,000 yuan – roughly 11.3–15.1 million tenge.
The model update comes amid falling sales. In August 2026, 2,997 BYD Han cars were sold in China, while demand for the model has declined noticeably since the start of the year.
The new design and an expanded technology package are expected to be the main changes for the next-generation Han. No date has been announced yet for the sedan's official premiere.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that the BYD Da Han sedan, with a range of 1,008 km, had gone on sale in China.
